Polygon Mumbai is being deprecated
A message to builders about Polygon Mumbai being deprecated. What it means. What to do and what's next.
We have recently been informed that Polygon Mumbai is going to be deprecated on 13th April, in just 1 weeks time.
The reason for this actually relates to Ethereum and Decun - the largest Ethereum upgrade since the network switched to proof-of-stake (PoS) 18 months ago. You can read all about Decun here. There are some huge benefits to what is coming and what this will mean for speed, scalability and cost. ย ย

What does this mean for builders?
Any projects already on mainnet will not be impacted by this.
Anything that has been built using OPENFORMAT's SDK currently on testnet will need to be migrated to Polygon Amoy. Otherwise it will no longer be functional. If you're concerned about this or want to speak to someone about migration, please get in touch with us via Discord.
What's next?
Over the next week the team at OPENFORMAT will be shifting our SDK over to Polygon's Amoy testnet. We're also researching other chains to increase flexibility for builders and further improve the experience. We will share more on this soon.
A few other updates for you:
All of our documentation is being overhauled and will be live by Wednesday next week ๐
Our beta API will be live on Monday ๐
We're redesigning the launchpad to make it MUCH easier to start building. This will be ready for use in 2 weeks time ๐
Please reach out with any questions or feedback - you can find us on Discord, Github, Meet-up, Youtube and X.
