Terms and Conditions for Builder Competition
Below are our terms and conditions for the no-code hackathon we're running with Buildship in May 2024.
1. Eligibility
The competition is open to individuals and teams worldwide, including product developers, founders, designers, and developers.
Participants do not need to know how to code to get involved.
Submissions will not be accepted from employees of the same company as any of the judges.
2. Entry Requirements
Participants must use OPENFORMAT and BuildShip in their submissions.
Participants must register for the competition through the provided link.
All entries must be submitted before the deadline of 30th June.
3. Competition Format
The competition will run for two weeks, starting on Friday, 24th May, and ending at midnight PDT on 30th June.
Winners will be announced on 8th July.
4. Submission Guidelines
Submissions must be uploaded via the provided submission link.
Each submission must include all required files and documentation by the deadline.
Late submissions will not be accepted.
5. Judging Criteria
Entries will be judged on creativity, originality, functionality, and overall execution.
The judging panel includes:

Mihai Gheza - Co-founder and CEO, Machinations

Sarah Weller - CEO and Co-founder, OPENFORMAT
Judges’ decisions are final and binding.
6. Prizes
First Place Overall: £1000 + 6 months Pro BuildShip
Second Place Overall: £750 + 6 months Pro BuildShip
Third Place Overall: £500 + 6 months Pro BuildShip
The People’s Choice: £1000 + 6 months Pro BuildShip
Most Promising Startup: Seat on Ambitious Labs Accelerator (worth $5000) + 6 months Pro BuildShip
All entrants receive a month’s free membership to BuildShip.
7. Intellectual Property
Participants retain ownership of their submissions.
By entering the competition, participants grant OPENFORMAT a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, and promote their submissions in connection with the competition and related marketing activities.
8. Code of Conduct
Participants must conduct themselves professionally and respectfully towards other participants and organisers.
Harassment, discrimination, and any form of misconduct will result in disqualification.
9. Liability
OPENFORMAT is not responsible for any technical issues, data loss, or other problems that may occur during the competition.
Participants agree to indemnify and hold OPENFORMAT harmless from any claims or damages arising from their participation in the competition.
10. Privacy
Personal information collected during registration will be used solely for the purposes of the competition.
Participants consent to the use of their names and likenesses in promotional materials.
11. Changes to Terms
OPENFORMAT reserves the right to modify or cancel the competition and these terms at any time.
Any changes will be communicated to participants promptly.
